Resting Voices: a Library in Pieces is an oral library that can be experienced lying down. It takes the form of a series of listening sessions, or an installation designed to travel into libraries, 4 Pillow Books.

Drawn from the archive of Institute of Rest(s), voices and texts are laid out au ras du sol (at ground level), sampled, dispersed, not quite re-activated but made available. Poets’ voices, scores for bodies that may or may not show up, all lie down on the floor.  The sessions invest in the pleasure of listening detached from the necessity to arrive anywhere, asking what shape the body needs to take, whether words can slide under the skin rather than bounce off it. Bien lire n’est pas lire: c’est autre chose (misquoting Laura Vazquez).
